Welcome to le official langyage zread. Cool

The language thread is the thread to discuss languages - are you interested in languages, or the history of them? How many languages do you speak? Which languages are you learning at school, if any, and which do you want to learn?

Thank you, and goodnight. Cool

I take Latin in my school. It's pretty easy...has some basic english traits and stuff with the tenses if you know what I mean.

Translate this: Caecilius (thats a name; all names are capitalized, non-names are not; and also there are no articles in later [i.e: a, the, an]) est dominum et Metella est Mater

I'm also planning on taking latin next year!

Yeah, English has been influenced a lot by French which is a latin language. Smile

Tried to translate it by using some translator and got this: "Caecilius is master and Metella is Mother", so it might mean that Caecilius is the father and Matella the mother? Also, do you mean that all nouns start with a capitalized letter, as in German?

They are very different, at least orally. I know that the Japanese borrow some of the Chinese alphabets, though. Smile

As for me, I used to speak German fluently, forgot a lot now, though, but I'm learning it at school again Smile and I speak English and of course my mother tongue; Norwegian. Cool
